In therapy. Nordic Countries face to face
Nordic Pavilion: Finland, Norway, and Sweden at the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale
For the exhibition, the Nordic Countries pavilion, transformed into an arena for debates and talks focused on contemporary Scandinavian architecture, is almost entirely filled by a large timber stepped terrace, built around the five trees which stand in the middle of the pavilion designed by Sverre Fehn in the early Sixties.

David Basulto, curator of the pavilion together with James Taylor-Foster, says “(the exhibition) positions Finland, Norway, and Sweden—three countries with distinct histories, cultures, and attitudes to design—face to face in the context of the compressed world of the Giardini (the location of the Nordic Pavilion in Venice), interrogating perceptions and preconceptions of Nordic architecture by openly addressing its built manifestation as directly as possible”.

The 300 projects on view, presented on takeaway cards, were selected among 500 submissions received between late 2015 and early 2016; nine of these projects will be examined in-depth and discussed during the Biennale.
