Inspired in Barcelona: In & Out
Catalan design at Palazzo Isimbardi | Milan Design Week 2017
Those who have visited Barcelona at least one time know why this city has become a synonym for creativity. Barcelona is a large modern city (in a positive sense) in which architecture and design influence social behaviors and constitute a tangible value for both its inhabitants and the many tourists who visit the city all year round. The capital of Catalonia has some of the best examples of modern and contemporary architecture; yet, the city’s quality of life is mainly the outcome of extreme care for the urban realm, whose benches, lighting, paving, shelters, and green areas demonstrate how much every detail is designed to provide remarkable aesthetic and functional quality.

Organized by Catalonia Trade & Investment e BCD – Barcelona Centro de Diseño, the exhibition “Inspired in Barcelona: In & Out“, on view at Palazzo Isimbardi (Corso Monforte) during the Milan Design Week 2017, showcases the latest Catalan design.
All the lively atmosphere of Barcelona and its urban spaces is reconstructed in the courtyard of the 17th-century palace in Milan; under a lightweight structure made of roller shutters, one of the most popular urban elements in Catalan cities, outdoor objects are on display, while furniture and accessories for interior spaces are placed on raised platforms under the portico. Overall, the exhibition features over 80 products by acclaimed manufacturers and designers, including Eugeni Quitllet, Jaime Hayon, Patricia Urquiola, Miguel Milà, Lievore Altherr Molina and Lagranja Design, Santa & Cole, Kettal, and Nanimarquina.
